That is the question.
Cheese and wine - it’s the ‘power pair’ that is usually the reserve of winter nights, made magic for all that crackling-fire, blanket snuggling cosiness they bring into our lives!
Who knew, however, that this brie-and-biscuit tradition, could transcend the realms of seasonal treats, to become THE summer supper of dreams?
I wouldn’t have believed it myself, had I not sampled first hand, the palate-pleasing punch that Pecorino and Provence Rose pack, when served up on a sunny evening platter!
If in doubt, why not pop along to the newly opened The Borough, and sample the delight of one of their Artisan British Cheese Platters, complemented by a glass of one of the many fine wines that make up this establishment’s extensive drinks offering.
Located on Maidenhead’s Queen Street, The Borough’s three level venue has arrived on the raft of Maidenhead’s ‘new look’ social scene, the pillars of which are rooted in the extensive investment and infrastructure advancements this market town has seen in recent years.
As someone who’s always admired the wine-bar culture of the City, this first foray into a more social, vibrant era for the town, has felt a long-time coming!
The chance to indulge in the institution that is… after-work drinks, for example, the likes of which the ‘old Maidenhead’ was scarcely conducive to.
Now, there's myriad of meet-up excuses to pick and choose from, incuding the ever-popular wine tasting evenings, gin appreciation events...and even a ‘cheese club’ for all those, like me, who appreciate the evergreen potential of a nice blue, washed down with an equally nice red!
