In the current climes, never has a truer word been spoken, than the one which reminds us to use joy and laughter as a conscious choice, to help leaven the load of these often heavy, nebulous days.
In saying this, we appreciate the debate that is inevitably invited, from encouraging laughter in the face of adversity. After all, in times like these, the line between humour and flippancy is a thin one, leaving happiness teetering on the bounds of good taste.
That said, there’s no denying that laughter IS the best medicine, and while a long way off being a panacea, it invariably goes at least SOME way to offsetting the tear-jerking titillations of 'Plan B'.
Luckily for us, this time of year comes with no shortage of opportunities for fun and laughter… Panto not least of them!
For young and old(er), the season of slapstick taps into a sense of humour we never knew needed tickling, until now!
That he’s-behind-you shaped ticket to entertainment, distraction and escapism, that is the shot in the arm that our frazzled minds - not to mention the arts - need now, more than ever!
