There’s something about the sounds of a swimming pool (a quiet one, at least!), that for the most part, never fails to soften the nerves and relax the mind!
With such amazing powers to placate, it’s no surprise that the dulcet tones of lapping water have been so missed this year.
We all need a pool fix, and we need it now! 🏊♀️
As for just what it is about the sound of the swimming pool, that makes it so relaxing... you can thank a little known therapy called PINK NOISE, for this one!
The colourful relative of the more famous white noise, has been shown to slow down and help regulate your brain waves, which is apparently especially helpful in prolonging deep sleep cycles and enhancing memory.
Of course, there had to be a reason why snoozing by the pool on holiday is just so hard to resist!
Other examples of pink noise, for those keen to reap its rewards, include rain falling, a train chugging and waves rolling in... to name but a few!
Otherwise, in the absence of being able to go to a real pool or spa right now, there are apps that can produce pink noise to listen to while you sleep.
