COLOUR ME HAPPY: ‘Mindful colouring is a great way of giving the mind a chance to rest and recharge’

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

Of all the ways to help unwind at the end of the day, a bit of ‘mindful colouring’ is up there with the best of them.

The craze began to grow in popularity back in 2014, proving itself as an effective way to relax the mind and distract from negative thoughts.

As such, adult-colouring has joined the ranks of meditation and art therapy as one of the most potentially effective, low-cost relaxation-based coping mechanisms we can all build into our increasingly stressful lives.

The advantage of completing such a low-stake task as mindful colouring, is that there's essentially nothing to lose in terms of confidence, and everything to gain when it comes to headspace.

While not a cure-all for anxiety and stress, the chance it provides for the mind to rest, recharge and wander freely can have significant mind-body benefits.

Not least of these, is the calm, clarity and creativity that abounds outside the digital vortex, when our minds are given the opportunity... to fill in the blanks!
