Coffee culture has changed significantly, and it is arguably one of the things we miss the most!

Updated: Sep 21, 2020

If your morning routine once revolved around dropping into your favourite coffee shop on route to the office, then the switch to home working is likely to have left a large cookie and latte shaped hole in your life.

Coffee culture has changed significantly since March, and it is arguably one of the things we miss the most – that restorative elixir of beans, baristas and baked goods that ‘work mode’ began (and sometimes ended) with!

We know it’s not quite the same, but endeavouring to recreate the commute (minus the tedious travelling part) by channelling a grab-and-go breakfast from the comfort of your own home, might just be the solution to a cereal or toast rut, if nothing else.

For the perfect *pretend* take-out, the recipe for these ‘healthy’ cafe-style oat pretzel cookies is below.

Pair with your favourite oat latte, in your reusable cup for good measure... and you’ve got the ultimate city-to-settee breakfast... minus the packed trains and sprint-induced spillages!

Working from home can be trying, and for many of us, it’s a challenge that can be helped significantly by these little efforts in normality.... and keeping your cup full (of coffee)!

Ingredients 100g butter

100g wholemeal flour

100g rolled oats

70g sugar

1 egg

Pretzels to decorate

1. Melt the butter in a pan

2. Add the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then mix in the egg and butter until combined

3. Spoon onto a baking tray then add a pretzel to each round

4. Bake for 13 minutes
